Interim SRC President Bemoans Partisan Politicking in Students Affairs

The Acting SRC President of the University of Cape Coast, Francis Kwabena Arthur, who also doubles as the current JCRC President of Casely Hayford Hall has bemoaned the level of partisan politicking that, has crept into student affairs.

This, he said, had become a key catalyst for the weak student front and has gone to affect our national life.

Kwabena Arthur, known as the Presider made this call at the handing over of the 2013/2014 SRC executives of the University of Cape Coast at the Auditorium 900 on Tuesday, September,16, 2014.

“Not only has our national sense of interest as a nation been completely buried, but the unnecessary partisan politics has affected our morals, our economy, our social and our national heritage. My vision as the Acting SRC president is to work hard in this short period that I’m likely to be in office to unite the entire student body of the University of Cape Coast,” he said.

The Dean of Student, Dr. Koawo Edjah who chaired the handing over ceremony advised students to build their capacities and focus on activities that would make them competitive in all their endeavors.

Delivering his handing over speech, the outgoing SRC President, David Boakye cataloged his achievements including the construction of the Shuttle Station, the construction of the staircase that link the Faculty of Social Science to the UCC Parliament, provision of street lights and the provision of a plant to power the Faculty of Education Lecture Theatre (FELT) and the G-Blocks.

Mr. Boakye advised the incoming executives to continue with the good legacy his administration had left behind, advising the new executives to be wary of people who would want to impede their progress.

It would recalled that 2014/2015 SRC election was bedeviled with controversies that resulted in the inability of 2014/2015 SRC election to come off last academic year as demanded.

This forced the university authorities to appoint an interim SRC executives awaiting the impasse to resolve.

The rescheduled date for the election has been slated for September, 23 and the interim executives would be in the helms of affairs until the election is conducted.
