The School of Business of the University of Cape Coast has organized an awards ceremony to acknowledge and encourage students who have excelled academically in their various programmes of study.

The awards ceremony, which is named, The School of Business Dean’s Award, saw a total of 173 students from the School of Business who have attained a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.6 being awarded with certificates and other prizes.

In a welcome address by the Dean of the School of Business, Prof. Edward Marfo-Yiadom at the event, he indicated that the Dean’s Award was introduced to identify hard working students and also to motivate other students to work hard in order to be recognized.

Prof. Edward Marfo-Yiadom added that the scheme helps the school to monitor the performance of their students from their first year till they graduate from the university.

“The list generated helps us to follow-up on the progress of our high performing undergraduate students from level 100 all the way to the completion of their programmes of study,” he said.

Speaking to motivate the students present at the event, the Financial Controller at Rendeavour Ghana, Mr. Victor Kpentey, who is a former awardee of the Dean’s Award, urged the students to be unique in all their endeavors. He said that, “you’ve got to do things people don’t do, brand yourself and know exactly what you want to do”.

He further advised the students to be confident and always open up their challenges so they could be guided by their mentors.
